You can fish for salmon either from the shore or from a boat. While shore fishing might be popular with many anglers, fishing for salmon from a boat offers other opportunities that are not available to shoreline anglers.

Drift Fishing
Drift fishing is one of the common methods used by anglers to catch salmon. You will have to cast a line upstream and let it drift through the river or pool, and then reel in the line. Drift fishing can be done from either a boat or from the shore. You will need to weigh your setup so that it bounces along the bottom and moves the same speed as the current. The strategy is to use the entire run of the downstream with the ideal weight and to fish from where you are standing. You will need to cast your line upstream at an angle of 30-45 degrees and let the bait bounce along the bottom until it reaches a 45-30 degree angle downstream. The goal is to keep doing this over and over again until a salmon picks up the bait.

Beginner anglers could have trouble knowing whether the fish has taken the bait or whether the line is snagged on a rock. However, with practice you will know the difference and will be catching salmon as they swim through.

Zachary Stephen Layton – Choosing the Right Gear when You Go Fly Fishing

Zachary Stephen Layton is an experienced angler and has been fly fishing for several years. He likes to be fully prepared when he goes fishing and is careful to use the right fishing gear. Essential Gear

Make sure you have waterproof waders when you go fishing, otherwise you cannot stay dry and comfortable. There are different types of waders available. Zip front waders are ideal for fishing and are easy to get in and out of it. You could also choose standard front waders or wading pants.

Wading Boots – You will also need a good pair of wading boots, there are rubber soles and felt soles wading boots available. Both the rubber and felt wading boots have studded traction. If you are a beginner angler, rubber or felt wading boots will be just fine.

Hat – You don’t want to go fishing without a hat. A fishing hat will block the sun’s harmful rays and help protect your eyes from the glare on the water. It will also help you see your flies and fish better. You might want to use a standard ball cap, but a long bill will give you more coverage. If you are looking for maximum sun protection, you might want to get a full-brimmed hat. If you are fishing in colder climates, you might want to use a stocking cap to keep your head warm.

Ipanema Beach

Ipanema Beach is one long stretch of sand which showcases subcultures as diverse at the city itself. The beach is one of the popular hangouts for the hippies and artists in the city. The area in front of the beach Rua Farme de Amoedo is known as Crystal Palace or Bolsa de Valores and is the gay section of the beach. If you are holidaying with children, you might want to head up Posto 8 a bit further along the beach which is a popular spot for kids.

If surfing is what drives you to the beaches in Rio, you might want to go to Arpoador, the best surfing spot between Ipanema and Copacabana. Ipanema is a beach with cleaner sands than Copacabana. However, the weekends are crowded, so you might want to go early.

Praia da Barra da Tijuca

Barra is a beautiful blue sea 7.4-mile long beach and is a great place to enjoy a beach picnic. There are several bars and seafood restaurants along the first few miles of the beach, so if you don’t feel like carrying your picnic basket, all you need to do is head over to one of the restaurants and enjoy a delicious meal.
